Things You Should Never Do to Lose Weight

Management of type 2 diabetes can range from oral medication to following a totally different diet plan. When a person is diagnosed with diabetes, they are usually told to follow a specific diet plan, which not only helps them to lose weight, but also to keep track of their carbohydrate consumption. There are many different types of diets for people who suffer from diabetes, and these can range from low-fat diets to others that claim high protein with a low carbohydrate combination is the best diet to follow.


Though times have changed dramatically over the years, the concept of losing weight remains the same. One needs to reduce the amount of calories consumed and increase physical activity to lose weight. The difference in 2015 is that there are so many different diets that one can try, it may be difficult to figure out which one is the right one.


Diets today focus on calorie reduction, but also focus on the consumption of lean protein, fruits and vegetables, as well as whole grains, which is a highly effective way to lose weight and keep diabetes under control.


For anyone trying to lose weight, the key is to keep an eye on the portion size. Though one may be eating low-fat foods, the portion size makes a world of difference. Invest in a food scale to accurately weigh the food and be able to each appropriate-sized portions. This is very important when trying to keep track of the amount of carbohydrates consumed each day. Buying a food scale can be quite beneficial.


Carrying the diagnosis of diabetes does not mean that food as we know it will no longer exist. What it does mean is that dietary changes must be implemented blood sugars are kept under accurate control and a healthy lifestyle is achieved. With this said, limit alcohol consumption to 1-2 alcoholic beverages a day. Red wine is a good choice, but again, check the portion size. Even though fattening foods are not being consumed, if too many carbohydrates or too many calories are being consumed,losing weight will be a bit difficult. A good rule of thumb is to remember keeping diabetes under control with diet and exercise takes 10% exercise and 90% diet. Dietary choices are what makes or breaks efforts made to lose weight and keep diabetes under proper control.
